About Wayne
After retiring as a Colonel from the U.S. Air Force following a
distinguished career that took him across Europe, Asia, and the
United States, Wayne has dedicated himself to what he's always
been passionate about: connecting with children through stories
and learning.
His educational background in Elementary Education, combined with
experience working with Littleton Public Schools in Colorado,
provides him with valuable insight into how children learn. This
expertise shines through in his "Can You Guess Who I Am?" series,
where young readers become detectives solving animal mysteries
through poetry and clues.
Currently, Wayne serves as a public school Senior Volunteer
reading animal poems to elementary students, bringing the same
interactive energy from his books to classrooms. This hands-on
experience with children continues to inform and inspire his
writing, ensuring his books engage young minds while teaching them
about the fascinating world of animals.
Wayne's books are beautifully illustrated by his daughter BJ
McDonald, making it truly a family collaboration. His wife Marj
has been his constant supporter throughout his writing journey, as
he fondly acknowledges in his book dedications.
When he's not writing or reading to children, Wayne works with
First Tee Colorado Mountains and the South Suburban Parks and
Recreation District, and can occasionally be found hacking his way
around the South Suburban Golf Course in Centennial, Colorado,
forever in search of that often elusive two-digit score.
